The purpose of this lab was to have students use what they have learned about
the conservation of energy to calculate the potential energy, kinetic energy,
height, and velocity of a pendulum at five different points as it swings.
The starting point was point A, straight down was point C, the point of the full
swing on the other side was point E. Point B was halfway between A and
C. Point D was halfway inbetween C and E. Students constructed a
small pendulum from a ring stand, and then a larger classroom pendulum.
The table below was filled out for each trial.
