Ammonium Chloride Solubility Curve Lab Results

The purpose of this lab was for students to construct there own solubility curve for ammonium chloride.  Students were to add 10 mls of water to 4 test tubes.  3 g, 4 g, 5 g, and 6 g of ammonium chloride were added to the tubes respectively.  The tubes were placed in a hot water bath until all the ammonium chloride dissolved.  The tubes were removed from the heat and a thermometer was placed in each one.  Students observed the temperature when crystal formation occurred in each tube and a solubility curve was constructed from the results.  The size of the crystals in mm was also measured.
