The purpose of this lab was for students to construct there own solubility curve
for ammonium chloride. Students were to add 10 mls of water to 4 test
tubes. 3 g, 4 g, 5 g, and 6 g of ammonium chloride were added to the tubes
respectively. The tubes were placed in a hot water bath until all the
ammonium chloride dissolved. The tubes were removed from the heat and a
thermometer was placed in each one. Students observed the temperature when
crystal formation occurred in each tube and a solubility curve was constructed
from the results. The size of the crystals in mm was also measured.
