Sheep Heart Dissection Lab Results

The purpose of this lab was to have students review parts of the heart by looking at an actual specimen.  Students first located all the external parts of their sheep heart, including the apex, base, pericardium, aorta, pulmonary arteries and veins, superior and inferior vena cava, and chambers.  Students then bisected the heart to view the inside of the chambers and found the valves, papillary muscles, chordae tendinae, trabeculae carnae, and septums.
