This lab was meant to reinforce the process of genetic engineering with
students. Using paper and markers, students made two different DNA
strands. A gene on one of the strands was to be inserted into the other
strand. The strands were cut along a certain sequence with scissors
representing restriction enzymes. The new gene was spliced into the
original DNA segment with tape, and the recombinant DNA was formed.
