The purpose of this lab was to have students calculate the acceleration of an
object based on its mass and force reading on a spring scale. Students
hooked the spring scale to a weight and read vertical force by letting the
weight hang. Horizontal force was found by dragging the weight across the table at a
constant rate. Acceleration was calculated
from Newton's F = ma equation.
