This lab enabled students to extract their own DNA from cheek cells and look at
it under the microscope. This lab always has varying results.
Students used soap and salt solution to get the DNA out of the cell, and rubbing
alcohol solution to get the DNA out of solution. It was then stained with
acetocarmine solution and looked at under the microscope.
