The Unit 2 project involved students coming up with a coin design for a new
United States half dollar coin. They had to decide which material to use,
take into account cost and source of materials, perform a life cycle analysis
for their material, decide on the size, shape, and weight of their coin, and
come up with an observe and reverse design for the coin. This project gave
them a chance to show their knowledge of materials gained throughout the unit.
