The purpose of this lab was to allow students to observe animal cells
and some organelles under the microscope. Cheek cells were used for the animal
cells. The cheek cells were stained with methylene blue to show the plasma membrane and
nucleus, with Janus Green to show the mitochondria, and with acetocarmine to
show the DNA.
